As a full time youth pastor, it is common to fill in needs in the church that have nothing to do with teenagers.  In the past several weeks, I have been doing a lot of ‘pastor’ things, but they have been outside of my normal role in ministry.  A wedding, camp directing, camp speaking, speaking in big church, adult 1-on-1 conversations, manning our church booth at a community event, church league softball.  It has been very busy, and all good things, just not my normal role; which is being with sr. high students.

As I sat down yesterday to take a deep breath, I realized how grateful I am for where God has put me.  It’s not that I don’t like doing all of these other things, but I feel more complete in my normal role, more fulfilled, more like I am accomplishing the purpose God has laid on my heart.  I feel a great appreciation for the body of Christ.  To know that God has led me to the role that fits me best, and that he has lead others to the role that fits them best.  And it is a really good thing they are not the same; they are all equally important!

Are you in the role that fits you the best?  Have you thanked God for it today?  I know I have!

I’m not yet in the role that fits me best–at least I don’t think so–so I’m still waiting and hopeful! :)
